What is accreditation?
Accreditation is a voluntary process of self-evaluation and continuous improvement that reflects compliance with required standards/indicators; involves a self-study; and includes a peer review by educators from outside of your school. Independent schools that seek accreditation through SAIS understand that our process is designed specifically with you in mind. SAIS accreditation allows you to tell your story, to set your goals, and to be independent, while still fulfilling the stringent and focused compliance requirements of our process. SAIS accreditation focuses on your school and your efforts to fulfill the school’s mission.

SAIS partners with several organizations to offer a single process that leads to multiple accreditations. Partner agencies typically have additional compliance measures and also make their own accrediting decisions based on their unique requirements. The goal of SAIS's accrediting partnerships is to serve the diverse needs of schools who want or need multiple accreditations.

The SAIS accreditation process allows schools to pursue accreditation while maintaining their identity and mission. We ask schools to tell their stories in a way that demonstrates they are mission-driven. An SAIS accreditation confirms that a school's intended efforts are also the actualized ones.
Accredited Schools Materials
Accredited SAIS member schools are permitted and encouraged to display SAIS logos on their website, print materials, the graduate's diploma, transcripts, etc.

Head of School / Substantive Change Form
Once a school earns its SAIS accreditation, it is required to remain in compliance for its five-year accreditation period and to provide confirmation of compliance at the two-year mark. SAIS takes very seriously any and all non-compliance inquiries and complaints against our member schools. Therefore, all inquiries and complaints are investigated to the level possible by SAIS.
