The Epiphany School of Global Studies is an independent, co-educational K-12 school located in the heart of New Bern, NC. Founded in 2006 by Nicholas and Catherine Sparks, Epiphany is young and thriving, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Anchored in the Judeo-Christian commandment to Love God and Your Neighbor as Yourself, Epiphany is a college-preparatory, globally focused school where dynamic and innovative learning stretches beyond the classroom walls.
Epiphany’s program comprehensively introduces students to a world of increasing globalization as they acquire the skills and wide-ranging experiences necessary for success now and in the future. Kindergarten through grade two students are immersed in Spanish, learning and mastering core subjects in both Spanish and English. Epiphany has one enrichment week in the fall and another in the spring during which students have the opportunity to travel and study abroad. Each trip is aligned with a specific educational purpose (cultural understanding, language immersion, mission work, and/or history) with lessons integrated into the educational program both before and after the trips that further enriches the experience. The world is truly their classroom.
Service and citizenship are at the heart of an Epiphany education. Every school year is kicked off with Odyssey Day, a school-wide day of service. Students at all grade levels, along with faculty and staff, dedicate the day to make the Greater New Bern community a better place. Odyssey Day is about more than hard work. It is about the relationships that are forged with one another, and the organizations and individuals served. The commitment to service doesn’t stop there. Hands-on service learning is encouraged throughout the year, both locally and abroad, culminating in a month-long senior year service project called Love in Action. This project serves as the capstone of an Epiphany education with seniors spending their final month off campus focusing on voluntary servant leadership.
The Epiphany School of Global Studies believes that every student is gifted. With a wide array of athletic, creative, and performing arts offerings, leadership opportunities, and a dynamic selection of clubs and electives, every student is invited to uncover their gifts and flourish in mind, body, and spirit.
