In the landscape of excellent independent schools in the Nashville, TN, area, The Covenant School stands as a small and powerful example of the beautiful co-existence of cutting-edge, 21st century learning and timeless Truth.  More than simply educating our students, we are participating in the miracle of their maturation – of seeing children develop into who they will be.  Best teaching methods and programs, daily all-school chapel, and service learning become the strong backdrop for the real work of helping children become who God intends them to be.

Healthy Risks

Students at The Covenant School are confronted daily with opportunities to try pursuits at which they may be frustrated – activities that might bring success or might bring failure. Our school has organized itself to be a safe place to take healthy risks – in the classroom, in relationships, in athletics. We believe strongly that responding in positive ways to disappointments and difficulties is a teachable skill. Even more compelling, research has been clear that there are many valuable skills – such as humility, resilience, and empathy – that cannot be learned well without experiencing setbacks.

Meaningful Collaboration

At every level, mainly through careful use of project-based learning, students are taught how to work together in meaningful collaboration. While no one is naturally good at collaborating, this is also a teachable skill. Through careful placement in groups coupled with instruction regarding roles and responsibilities, goals and objectives, children learn that more can be learned through teamwork and cooperation than in isolated pursuits.

Purposeful Relationships

As teachers capture our students’ attention and their minds for learning they also capture their hearts in relationships that challenge their thinking and create opportunities for them to learn the skills that will be so critical in moving forward.  Our graduates attend the finest schools in the Nashville area, where they not only excel academically but also show themselves to be young people with the character that comes from faith.
