Term of Office
The trustee term, which begins January 1, 2012, is three years, at the completion of which the trustee may be elected for a second three-year term, or shall rotate off the board. At the completion of a second three-year term, a trustee must rotate off the board for a period of at least one year. A trustee may, during tenure or at the time of rotating off the board, be elected to a position as an officer. Officers are exempt from the regular board rotation.
The board meets four times a year (October, January, April, and July). Board members are expected to attend all four meetings. Additionally, the board may meet by video or conference call other times throughout the year as needed.
The committee on trustees will process the nominations and review the nominees. The committee will make recommendations to the full board at its July meeting. The slate will be presented for approval by the membership at the SAIS annual business meeting in October. New trustees will begin their terms on January 1, 2012.
