Swift School is an independent school in metropolitan Atlanta serving students in grades 1–8 with dyslexia and language-based learning differences. Dyslexic students are bright and creative and possess immense potential that too often goes unrealized. At Swift, dyslexia is viewed through the lens of leading-edge brain science and seen as a brain type with great advantages. The school’s curriculum and educational approach are designed to enhance the unique strengths of dyslexic learners and address the specific challenges they face.

Swift’s experienced team of teachers, learning specialists and speech language pathologists partner to create individualized programs for each student to ensure their success in the classroom. The school uses the Orton-Gillingham approach to teach students how to decode and understand language.

Swift’s lower division, with small class sizes, provides students a high degree of individualized instruction, while the middle division offers a challenging program to prepare students for high school. Swift offers arts instruction and after school clubs for lower division students, and interscholastic sports (soccer, basketball and track) for middle division students. In addition, the school places a strong emphasis on teaching students self-advocacy skills that will allow them to adapt and thrive in life beyond Swift.

Within weeks of starting at Swift, students begin to experience the Swift Effect. They can’t wait to come to school because they are understood and appreciated for who they are, how they learn, and their rich, untapped talents. Students who could not read discover the keys to unlock language. School becomes a destination filled with a joy of learning. Parents who were once afraid become filled with hope. As one parent shared of her daughter’s transformation, “Swift changed her life. It changed my family’s life.”
