Many schools prioritize professional development – for their administrators as well as for their teachers. As such, they seek new and innovative programs that can support them in their growth and improve school operations in different capacities. Many schools look to Independent School Management (ISM), which offers a variety of programs on hot topics such as scheduling, fund-raising, financial planning, and enrollment management.

Over the past year, ISM has seen growth in attendance at development-related programs such as feasibility studies, and capital campaign and annual fund planning. The company also has fielded more requests for surveys. “Schools are wanting a lot more research-based information,” said Ted Fluck, director of business development. ISM has published myriad surveys on subjects such as tuition, enrollment management, parent communication, compensation, and other areas of school management. In addition, ISM can assist its members with conducting internal surveys, the results of which support accreditation and help schools to gauge the satisfaction of faculty, parents, and even students.

ISM also has experienced membership growth among the western states and is hosting its first-ever ISM Expo in Dallas, October 22-24. Sessions at the expo will focus on four key topic areas: Executive IssuesBusiness OfficeAdvancement, and Leadershipplanned for a school head, trustee, business manager, or advancement staff.

At the 2018 SAIS Annual Conference in Charleston, SC, October 14-16, ISM consultants will be available to speak with school leaders about their professional development programs as well as the many services that they provide for member schools
