Gratitude for a Job Well Done: LeeAnne Minnick, Director of Technology

If you’ve attended the SAIS Annual Conference, you know her: she is the smiling face at the registration desk, offering name badges and tote bags with warmth and enthusiasm. If you haven’t met her in person, you’ve likely gotten an email from her – cheerful, helpful notes about resetting your login, posting a job, buying mailing labels, and fixing registration forms gone awry. She is SAIS Director of Technology LeeAnne Minnick and tomorrow she wraps up 11 years of service. The time and energy she dedicated to SAIS and its member schools are abundant and we are grateful for her contributions.

LeeAnne has been our website wizard, database queen, HTML guru, career center expert, resident Container Store junkie, and Starbucks fangirl. She is the whisperer who tames fussy software, hobbled printers, and intransigent cats. She orchestrates the much-beloved annual SAIS Jeopardy game, shares the cooking secrets behind Mama Stamberg's garlicky cranberry relish, and is the only person we know who has rented ivy-eating goats as a lawncare measure.

If anyone could save the world, it’s LeeAnne. She has spent countless hours working with community organizations including Hands on Northeast Georgia, the Sandy Creek Nature Center, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Athens-Clarke County Friends of the Library, and Common Ground Athens.

She has also enthusiastically participated in the Georgia Society of Association Executives (GSAE) over the last decade. In addition to chairing the GSAE Foundation board as well as four different committees, she graduated from the Leadership Academy and won the 2014 Sharon Hunt Emerging Leader Award.

We will miss LeeAnne’s quirky sense of humor, her obsession with bubble wrap, and hearing about her frequent trips to Disney. But we’re glad she’ll have more time to do the things she loves: knit, shop at her local independent bookstore, listen to the “Wait Wait … Don’t Tell Me!” weekly news quiz on NPR, and plan next year’s DragonCon adventure. We send her on her way with our best wishes and deep gratitude.

Welcome New SAIS Team Members

Clay Gibney, Data Operations Manager

As LeeAnne departs, we welcome her successor, Clay Gibney, who will serve as the data operations manager for SAIS. Clay brings more than three decades of hands-on technology support experience, including nine years as the IT director at an international association, where he worked remotely alongside 75% of the staff. After a brief foray in the corporate world, he is excited to return to association work. He is comfortable in a dual-platform environment, adores Microsoft Excel (to the point it was included in his wedding vows!), and is experienced at being the only man on an all-female staff. He has been described as "a tech geek with personality" and enjoys hiking, wine festivals, playing acoustic guitar, and riding his motorcycle.

Abby Schultz, Events Coordinator

Earlier this spring, SAIS welcomed Abby Schultz as our new events coordinator. Before joining the SAIS team, Abby worked for Marriott International as a banquet and restaurant manager. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English and translation studies from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in hospitality business management from Michigan State University. She is an active member of the Junior League of Atlanta and enjoys cheering on the Michigan Wolverines, baking, reading, and telling jokes.
