SAIS Welcomes New Member Schools in 2014-15

SAIS is thrilled to welcome 14 new members to our independent school network in 2015! Please take a moment to become familiar with these new member schools and connect with them at future events.

United States 


Alabama Waldorf School was founded in 1987 in Birmingham, AL. The school serves students ages 2 through 8th grade. Its mission is to cultivate healthy, confident, compassionate learners who excel academically, socially, and civically. Its head of school is Lisa Grupe, Ph.D. 


Little Rock Christian Academy  is a co-ed, college-preparatory Christian day school serving 1,440 students ages 3 through 12th grade in Little Rock, AR. The school is committed to “excellence in the pursuit of truth from a Christ-centered worldview.” Its head of school is Dr. Gary Arnold.


Tampa Preparatory School is located in downtown Tampa, FL, and serves more than 600 students in grades 6-12. The school community offers a “preparation for life with a higher purpose than self” as students and faculty are able to think, to create, and to aspire to excellence. Its head of school is Kevin Plummer.

Saint Paul's School is an independent Episcopal day school educating students ages 3 through the 8th grade and located in Clearwater, FL. Founded in 1968, the school is committed to providing a nurturing, holistic environment that challenges students academically while promoting their character and leadership development. Its head of school is Samantha Kemmish Campbell.   


David Emanuel Academy was founded in 1969 in Stillmore, GA. The school is a co-ed college preparatory school serving students K through 12th grade by nurturing a family atmosphere, providing strong academic curriculum, encouraging athletic involvement, and spiritually connecting them all together. Its head of school is Em Hubbard.

Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School opened its doors in the fall of 2014 in downtown Atlanta. It currently serves 160 students in its freshman class, and plans to grow that number to 500 by 2017. Cristo Rey Atlanta is part of the larger Cristo Rey Network of schools that employs a unique model to serve underprivileged students. The school pairs rigorous college preparatory curriculum with authentic work experiences in the corporate world. Its president is William Garrett. 

Prince Avenue Christian School is a coeducational Christian school teaching over 840 students grades PreK through 12th grade in Bogart, GA. The school promotes Christian values, while fostering academics and character training. The school is committed to working with parents and more than 124 churches to provide a quality Christian education, as well as an atmosphere where there is a wholesome spirit of grace and truth. Its head of school is Danny Howell.


Lamar School is a co-ed college-preparatory Christian school serving more than 500 students PreK through 12th grade in Meridian, MS. Chartered in 1964, the school celebrated its 50th anniversary this past year. Its head of school is Leigh Ann Ballou.


Fort Bend Christian Academy is a college preparatory Christian school serving 900 students PreK through 12th grade in Houston, TX. The school is one of the largest in its area. Its mission is to glorify God by equipping its students to thrive spiritually, academically, socially, and physically. Its head of school is John Lindsell.


Boyd-Buchanan School is a non-denominational Christian school serving 900 students PreK through 12th grade in Chattanooga, TN. Founded in 1952 in a mansion in downtown Chattanooga, the school grew steadily for a decade before moving to a larger 52-acre campus. The school prepares its students academically and spiritually so they can embrace life's challenges with joy, courage, and wisdom. Its head of school is Jill Clevenger Hartness.

Christ Presbyterian Academy is a college preparatory school that provides transformational education with a Christian worldview to 1,291 students grades PreK through 12th in Nashville, TN. The school was founded in 1985, and views its role as a triangle partnership between church, school, and the parent to give children the tools to live a productive life in contemporary society. Its head of school is Nathaniel Morrow. 


Woodberry Forest School is a boarding school for boys in grades 9-12 located in Woodberry Forest, VA. A Woodberry education is centered around its century-old, student-run honor system and emphasizes intellectual thoroughness and moral integrity. All students also participate in leadership development. Its head of school is Byron Hulsey.


Westhill Institute is an international American school serving students grades PreK through 12th in Mexico City. Founded in 1992, the school offers a student centered learning environment that prioritizes diversity, inclusion, character, community service, and a commitment to rigorous standards. More than 40 percent of the student body comes from 25 different countries around the world. Its head of school is Claudia Sicilia. 

Peterson School offers a rigorous academic program and bilingual learning environment for students ages PreK through 12th grade in Mexico City. The school is the first in Mexico to offer a Montessori approach of instruction for students in English. The school is committed to creating an environment that stimulates children's curiosity and intellect, as well as teaches them how to interact and internalize values that will help them live an honorable and happy life. Its head of school is Kenneth Peterson.
