Founded in 1905, Darlington School is an independent, college-preparatory PK-12 day and boarding school with boarding in grades 9-12. Our mission is to empower students to learn with passion, act with integrity, and serve with respect, and it is our goal that these lessons are carried with them as they move into the next phase of their lives and beyond.

For more than 100 years, Darlington has graduated young men and women who possess a deeper understanding and appreciation of the world in which they live. Our students are warm and inquisitive. Our faculty members are open and engaging. And together, we inspire greatness every single day.

In a world where knowledge is always expanding, Darlington stays ahead of the curve by offering an academic program focused on the development of critical and creative thinking skills. With equal emphasis on academic rigor and character development, we design PK-12 learning experiences that grow our students into adults who are prepared for a lifetime of thoughtful living, learning, and leading.

Unique to American boarding schools, Darlington’s English-style House System is the backbone of its family-like atmosphere. The House System encourages the development of strong, lifelong student-faculty mentoring relationships and creates an immediate sense of camaraderie. Boarding students live in one of six houses, three for boys and three for girls, each managed by a full-time head of house. And with 40 percent of Darlington’s faculty living on campus, there is never a shortage of support.

Some have called their Darlington experience life changing. Some call it transformative. But in the end, they all call it the most pivotal time in their lives.

Stretching for 500 acres, the campus is nestled around a small lake in the foothills of the Lookout Mountain Range in Rome, GA, a medical center and college town located approximately one hour northwest of Atlanta. For more information, visit
